“Let’s Talk about Business” by HelloHelen

scent notes 59

Some brands give very well-fitting names to their perfumes, and HelloHelen is one of them. The essence of the scent “Let’s Talk about Business” is perfectly captured in the name. It is fresh, it is busy, it is cool, it is tough – and still, it has charm. Like most of the HelloHelen perfumes it is directed to women, but is more on the unisex side than most other perfumes of the brand.

To wear this perfume for an important business talk is extravagantly possible. The perfume transports the necessary energy for a long negotiation and it also brings positive vibes. Somehow the French Cote d’Azur is in my head as the area for this business negotiation, moderate buildings, money, blue sea and of course lots of citrus trees. Be it Nice, Monaco, St. Tropez, or a smaller city – the spirit is there.

The scent notes are written on the bottle: orange, grapefruit, jasmine, orange blossom, passionfruit, white musk, and cedar.

To me, there is more pomelo (Pampelmuse) fruit than orange in the perfume, and the pomelo dominates it. A pomelo fruit is different to your common grapefruit; it seems in English the wording does not differ between the 2. On the outside and inside a pomelo fruit is of a light-yellow green and has a very firm structure; especially the membrane is firm. One can carve out the fruit with a knife and not produce a lot of juice in the process; something that usually happens when doing the same to other citrus fruits. A pomelo is very special to eat and it is big in size compared to other citrus fruits.

The second scent note which is very distinct is the passion fruit or maracuja. It is softer than the pomelo, but adds a very nice deep tropical twist to the perfume. Of the other ingredients named on the bottle, I cannot smell much. “Let’s Talk about Business” does not change a lot over time, but has a very good durability.

The colour of the perfume the light green of a pomelo.

HelloHelen is a brand from Ukraine, which makes them very cool indeed. It is so important to keep production of luxury good up, especially in times of duress. No doubt, the fight of Ukraine for their independence and to keep the identity of their country must be horrible for the population. The whole brand and their fragrances show the spirit of an undefeated Ukraine.

The brand design is in the Ukrainian colours blue and yellow-orange. The bottles have mostly blue caps, but the colour scheme of the labels differs between more blue or more orange parts. The packaging and the bottles both look very professional.

The European website of HelloHelen gives some practical information on the production process of the perfumes. The French perfume oils for the fragrances come from the company Argeville (firmly in the Grasse perfume universe), the glass for the bottles comes from Italy, and the manufacturing site of the perfumes is located in Turkey.  All are combined under Ukrainian management. The results are of the best quality. The main sales markets are probably Ukraine and Poland, but the brand is available all over Europe.

The US website of HelloHelen gives some additional information, also naming the owner and founder of the company, Helen (Elena) Nechyporuk. She founded the brand in 2020 and seems to be present at most international perfume shows. Both websites only offer a part of the many fragrances that HelloHellen already launched.

The FRAGRANTICA platform states that Helen Nechyporuk learned about perfume creation in Grasse herself and works today also with perfumers like Laurent Marrone and Vanessa Prudent.

The pricing of the perfumes varies. On the HelloHelen website they are sometimes more expensive than when I bought mine from a trader on amazon (where I first came across the brand). The prices on the US page are in general higher than the European ones. Probably the pricing varies depending on demand and production capacity. In summary, the prices are extremely sensible and entirely justified.

HelloHelen is by now an established niche player in the European and US perfume world. Hopefully Helena Nechyporuk continues to bring the Ukrainian spirit in this very female and glittering fashion to us all over the world. It is wonderful when people do their own thing, not letting themselves be overwhelmed by the circumstances. Keep calm and carry on, and bring some beauty to the world.

Looking forward to many more HelloHelen perfumes!
